I have been wanting to start a blog for a long time. Problem was, I could never stay on task with a single subject long enough to write about it. Then yesterday, as I was searching for an article that I read late last year on the "mental paralyzingly effects of poverty", I ran across Killer Martinis (http://killer-martinis.squarespace.com/) and got inspired. In her post, she'd talked about things that I had to have known once but have long since forgot, either by design, simple forgetfulness or old age (even though I still think I'm on the ascending slope of the hill). More on that later.
I reflected upon what seems to come naturally to me and while the items on that list are numerous in my mind, what became abundantly clear was my undying need, call it desire, to connect things. By things, I mean people, places, events, causes and affects. It's like playing Dot To Dot-Adult Style.
Surely you remember playing dot to dot as a kid. The puzzle game where you draw a line through an ascending set of numbers on a page with random, numbered dots that looks like a scattered mess when you begin. The fabulous, intriguing, magnificent thing about this game is as you work your way through the number set on the page, a picture or image of something begins to take form. The more you connect the dots the clearer the picture becomes.
Well, it feels like I'm still playing dot to dot and when the picture begins to come clear to me as to why things are what they are, or are what they seem to be or are what they appear to be to me, it's like, I've discovered a secret that's been hidden in plain sight the entire time if I had just taken the time to look.
That's what I think my blog will be about, Dot to Dot-Adult Style. I will be posting random thoughts and the connections as I see them. Feel free to agree or disagree with my thinkings. I'm sure that I will be proven wrong much of the time, which is quite alright with me, but I think I may be spot on with some things too...
At any rate, with this I will be fulfilling a desire of mine and bucket list item, to write, as well as my obsession with connection.
Welcome aboard, it's gonna be a wild ride.
